Subterranean termite swarming activity in Davis, CA

In the past two days I have observed active subterranean termite swarmers in both Woodland and Davis. The picture above was taken in Davis in a 15 year old house. The mud tube was hidden behind the refrigerator and all of a sudden thousands of swarmers started crawling out from underneath. The homeowner sprayed them down with raid but there were still active swarmers coming out of the tube and workers inside the tube. The source of the infestation was a crack in the slab where the copper pipe comes through to supply water to the ice maker. Subterranean termites only need 1/32 of an inch to make there way into a home. As a temporary measure, I knocked down the tube and injected Premise foam into the wall void around the copper line. A more thorough treatment will be scheduled soon. That will require a few small holes to be drilled through the concrete slab so that we can inject Altriset termiticide into the soil below. When we are done, a rubber plug will be inserted into the hole and then concrete patch will be applied over the plug. Finally we glue down the linoleum which we punch out and save before drilling. You will be able to see the outline of the hole if you look closely, but fortunately, these will be hidden underneath the refrigerator.

If you have roses, chances are you have aphids. As soon as leafs and buds appear on your rose bushes you will see aphids on them practically overnight. The best way to control aphids in Woodland or Davis is to have Woodland-Davis Termite & Pest Control, Inc. perform a deep root injection of the chemical Criterion.
